Sandy beach facing the Gulf of Valinco

The most beautiful beaches around Propriano

The Gulf of Valinco is one of the most beautiful in South Corsica. Around Propriano, there’s a beach for every mood: fine sand right by the town, wild coves or long, undeveloped stretches of coast. Here is our selection, from the nearest to the furthest away.

Mancinu, right below the apartment

This is our beach, at the entrance to Propriano. The residence’s lift goes straight down to it. Fine sand, calm water and a view of the marina: perfect for a swim before breakfast or at the end of the day.

The Lido, the town beach

At the entrance to Propriano, the Lido is the liveliest beach, with its view of the lighthouse and its restaurants right on the sand. Perfect for families.

Portigliolo, the big unspoilt beach

About 15 minutes to the south, Portigliolo unfurls several kilometres of golden sand with barely a building in sight. Even in August, finding a spot is easy.

Campomoro and its Genoese tower

At the end of the road, about 30 minutes away, Campomoro bay is one of the most beautiful spots on the gulf. Turquoise water, white sand and, above it all, the largest Genoese tower in Corsica. The coastal path out to the granite rocks is well worth the walk.

Cupabia, across the gulf

On the northern shore, beyond Porto Pollo, Cupabia is an unspoilt beach surrounded by maquis, reached by a narrow road. A lovely day out in nature.

Our tips

  • Set off early in July and August: the car parks at the wilder beaches fill up quickly.
  • Bring water shoes for the rocky coves.
  • For the coves you can’t reach by road, a boat trip from Propriano harbour lets you see them all in a single day.
