Boat trip to the Agriates beaches, turquoise water

The Lotu and Saleccia beaches from Saint-Florent

Turquoise water, white sand and not a building on the horizon: the Lotu and Saleccia beaches, in the heart of the Agriates Desert, are among the most beautiful in the Mediterranean. From Saint-Florent, there are three ways to reach them.

By boat shuttle, the easiest way

From Saint-Florent harbour, shuttles such as “Le Popeye” reach Lotu in around thirty minutes, and others serve Saleccia. Departures are spread throughout the morning, with return trips in the late afternoon. In July and August, book the day before.

On foot, along the customs officers’ path

The coastal path links Saint-Florent to Lotu along the shoreline, then continues on to Saleccia. Allow several hours of walking with no shade: set off early and take plenty of water. A good option: walk there and take the shuttle back.

By 4x4, along the track

A track of about 12 km leaves the L’Île-Rousse road and leads to Saleccia. It is very rough and only suitable for appropriate vehicles. Hire cars are generally not insured on this kind of track.

Lotu or Saleccia?

Lotu is the closer of the two and the easiest to reach by boat: ideal with children. Saleccia, larger and wilder, is fringed by a pine forest.

Our tips

  • There are no shops and no shade on site: bring water, a picnic, a parasol and sun cream.
  • Take your rubbish home with you: the site is protected.
  • Avoid days with a strong westerly wind, when the sea is rough and the shuttles may be cancelled.
